CHILD SUPPORT PAYMENT FACT SHEET MARION COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE 1. Child support may be paid: - by mail
- at the major banks in Marion County
- in Room W-123 City-County Building (8:15 am - 4:00 pm)
- by automatic deduction from your bank account (EFT - Electronic Funds Transfer
- by income withholding through Payroll Deduction
- through Bank-By-Phone
2. Money orders should be made payable to: Marion County Clerk - Support Division 3. Twice each year payment coupon books are mailed to all payors except those paying through payroll deduction. A book contains personalized coupons for the payor to submit with each payment for the next six (6) months. 4. Each payment must include the following information in order to be processed: - Payor Name and Social Security Number
- Payor Address
- Payee Name
- Account Number or Cause Number (The coupons mentioned above have this information pre-printed on them.)
5. The annual docket fee required by Indiana law is due from all payors by February 1st of each year. The fee is $20.00. There is a late fee of $10.00, set by statute. The law prohibits this docket fee from being deducted from a regular support payment. Most employers will not arrange for it to be paid through payroll deduction. If a child support case is opened after July 1st, the docket fee obligation for that payor is $10.00 if paid by December 31st. There will be a $10.00 late fee if paid after December 31st. 6. Payment of docket fees may be made by mail or in person to Room W-123 City-County Building (8:15 am - 4:00 pm). Money orders should be made payable to Marion County Clerk - Support Division. Each payment must include all of the information mentioned in paragraph #4 plus notification that the payment is for a docket fee. The coupon books mentioned above each have a pre-printed docket fee coupon. IMPORTANT NOTICE PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF JANUARY 1, 1994, THE MARION COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS.
